Marichaels Gluten Free Goods Review

Gluten Free BagelsAbout Marichaels: Two friends reunited after 25 years with the same dreams of owning and operating their own food establishment. Marina is Gluten Free with a love of baking, and Michael has a  background in the food industry and marketing.  Together, they created Marichaels (mir-i-kel). To them, it was a miracle to be reconnected and to work together. They hope that their products will make your Gluten and Wheat Free living much better tasting.

Bagels are one of the main things that I really miss due to being gluten free.  I quickly realized that I needed to learn that gluten free bagels are not going to taste exactly like regular bagels.  They will not have the same chew since there is no gluten.  Once you know this, it’s a bit easier to move on to gluten free bagels.

We were sent some of the Marichaels plain bagels to try out.  These bagels need to be slightly heated in the microwave before using.  Once they’re warmed up a bit, you can slice them.  They had a nice flavor once toasted, but we did not really care for them when they were not toasted. (This is true of all gluten free bagels that I’ve had so far, so it’s not unique to Marichaels.)  We enjoyed eating them with cream cheese and as bagel sandwiches.  The bagels are available in everything, sesame, poppy seed, cinnamon raisin and plain. 6 bagels (can mix and match) retail for $7.50

We were also sent some of the glazed doughnuts, chocolate chip cookies, banana muffins, and quinoa flake apricot white chocolate cookies.

Unfortunately, the glazed doughnuts did not ship well.  (We were a trial run.  They’re going to change things up, so the doughnuts will arrive in good shape.)  Due to this fact, I’m unable to properly review these.

The chocolate chip cookies were quite tasty.  The cookies we received had both white chocolate chips and regular chocolate chips.  They were the crispy cookies and not chewy.  They had a good texture.  These were not Munchkin’s favorite because she prefers chewy chocolate chip cookies, and she prefers just regular chocolate chips.  D likes crispy chocolate chip cookies, so these were right up his alley.

D was the one who tried the banana muffins as Munchkin and I don’t really care for banana muffins.  D didn’t care for the flavor of the muffins.  He said they were bitter, and he could have done without the chocolate chips in the muffins.  He said that even though he didn’t care for the flavor, the texture was good.

The quinoa flake apricot white chocolate cookies were my absolute favorite item that we received.  Munchkin didn’t care for them, but this wasn’t a bad thing because I got to enjoy them.  These are a thick cookie filled with chewy dried apricot pieces and sweet white chocolate chips.  The flavor and texture of the cookies was quite good.

Marichaels has offered to send one of my readers an order of gluten-free cookies of your choice, chocolate chip, sugar, or the Quinoa flake apricot white chocolate.
