Deerfields Gluten Free Bakery

Deerfields Gluten Free Bakery is located in Illinois, but thankfully, for those of us that don’t live in the Illinois area, their products are available online.  (They are also available in select stores in other states.)  They will ship their gluten free baked goods right to your front door.  All items are baked in a gluten free oven, and no gluten flours are store on premises.

Deerfields sent us an amazing sampler of some of their most popular items.  I was surprised by one of the ingredients they use in many of their baked goods – coconut flour.  I have had many different gluten free products, but I can’t remember one that used coconut flour.  I’ve baked a little with coconut flour and know that it is good for you.  It can also be a little difficult to work with as it likes to soak up moisture in the baked products.  Well, Deerfields has gotten the process right because everything that we sampled was delicious.

Deerfields Bakery Baked Goods

Rice Bran Mini Baguette: These were a big hit.  You wet these down and stick them in the oven for 15 minutes.  The end result is a delicious, crispy on the outside, chewing on the inside baguette.  We used these with the crockpot bbq shredded chicken.  There are 2 baguettes in a package, and they retail for $3.95 online.

Day Dreams: These little brownie cookies have white chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips.  They are moist and chewy with good chocolate flavor.  For me, these were a little rich, but Munchkin really like them.  She’s our little chocolate girl.  There are 6 cookies in a package, and they retail for $7.50 online.

Brownie Cookie:  These cookies are basically brownies that have been baked like cookies.  These cookies have that traditional rich, chewy brownie flavor wrapped up in an easy, on-the-go package.  Once again, Munchkin really liked these.  There are 2 brownie cookies in a package, and they retail for $3.49 online.

Lemon Buttons:  These shortbread like cookies have a mellow lemon flavor and are drizzled with a bit of lemon icing.  These were really good.  I was rather disappointed and surprised that Munchkin liked these cookies as she usually doesn’t like anything lemon.  Unfortunately, this meant that I had to share.  There are 6 cookies in a package, and they retail for $7.50.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Coffeecake: The coffeecake base for this cream cheese coffeecake reminded D and I more of a shortbread.  The whole cake was absolutely delicious, but it wasn’t a traditional coffee cake.  The organic blueberries pop in your month, and the lemon infused cream cheese is light and refreshing.  The cake base if very tasty and goes well with the cream cheese.  The blueberry cream cheese coffeecake retails for $7.95 online.

Cheesecake:  Creamy, delicious cheesecake.  Our only complaint on this one is that we wanted a little more crust on the cheesecake.  The cheesecake is creamy, filled with flavor and has a shortbread-like crust.  You can not tell this is a gluten free cheesecake.  The scrumptious cheesecake retails for $15.95 online.

If you are looking for gluten free baked goods that don’t taste gluten free, you’ll want to check out Deerfields Gluten Free Bakery.

Deerfields sent me a sampler pack of their products for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
