Ray's Arithmetic

Ray’s Arithmetic takes students and teachers back in time.  Ray’s was originally created to be used by frontier Americans who often lived in areas where available teachers were few, often far away, or even completely unavailable.

The books are designed to allow children, once they can read, to work independently to a very great extent. Concepts are carefully explained, and all of the subjects follow one after another in a very logical progression, so that the child is never asked to work a type of problem which has not yet been discussed.

The Ray’s Arithmetic cd contains 38 books indexed for easy use.

Ray's Arithmetic SampleAnyone starting with Ray’s Arithmetic will want to start with the Manual of Methods. When you first open the cd, all of the information available can be a tad overwhelming.  The Manual of Methods will give you a good starting point as it explains how to use the different books.

Dollar Homeschool has done a great job organizing Ray’s Arithmetic into easy to navigate pdf format on cd.  The cd contains 38 books that cover counting all the way up to calculus.  The scanned images of the original Ray’s Arithmetic books are clear and easy to read (view more samples here).  While I normally really like hard copies of books, this format was very easy to use and didn’t take up more shelf space.

Dollar Homeschool offers Ray’s Arithmetic on cd for $59, and it comes with  a 30 day money back guarantee. Currently, they are also offering free priority mail shipping with your purchase.
