College Prep Genius Review

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

As you read in my College Prep Genius introduction post, College Prep Genius offers parents and students help in getting started for the road to college success. Through this course, students will learn how to prepare for the test, and the best way to take the test. Students are given tips and tricks to help them excel at standardized test taking.

We received the College Prep Genius “Master the SAT Class” dvd set to review.  This set includes 4 dvds (the whole “Master the SAT Class” lecture series), the College Prep Genius textbook, and the College Prep Genius workbook.

The dvds include the following topics:

1.  Disc One: Introduction to the SAT

  • What is the SAT?
  • Why is it important?
  • How to use your time wisely.
  • 13 myths of the SAT

2.  Disc Two: Critical Reading Success

  • Cut your reading time in half.
  • 3 basic types of questions and how to answer them.

3.  Disc Three: Math Success

  • Take the fear out of long and scary math problems.
  • Answer problems without ever touching a calculator.
  • Learn how to approach SAT math problems using logic instead of long formulas.

4.  Disc Four: Writing Success

  • Write a high score essay in just 15 minutes.
  • Learn new logic strategies that help conquer Sentence Error, Improving Sentences, and Improving Paragraph sections.

Listening and learning from the lessons is easy as they are broken down into manageable sections.  Everything is clearly labeled for your convenience.   The accompanying textbook and workbook are valuable resources that help you put into action what you have just heard on the dvds.

Munchkin is obviously too young for us to really start preparing for the SAT at this point in time, but we did learn a few tricks to help her even now with regular testing.  One of Munchkin’s favorites was the acronyms to help you remember things during test taking.  When it gets closer to the time for Munchkin to begin preparing for testing, we will be revisiting this series.  I can see how it would be a big help for those wanting to score well on their SAT tests.

The “Master the SAT Class” dvd set is currently on sale for $79.00.

You’ll want to visit more crew members to see how they put the College Prep Genius course to work in their own homes.
